2011 BMW R 1200 R Specs News and Review

If youre looking for a bike with zero pretensions thats all attitude, the R 1200 R is your ride. From blazing performance in the twisties to long distance touring to blasts around the city this is a supremely capable motorcycle that offers exhilarating performance. Featuring a generous 109hp, the new R 1200 R has the horsepower torque and acceleration to create thrills with every mile. Add the latest version of BMW Integral ABS and Automatic Stability Control, and the R 1200 R is as sure-footed as it is exciting.
Handling is remarkably precise thanks to the Telelever front suspension and the motorcycles low center of gravity. Now every turn becomes a pulse-quickening experience no matter where the pavement takes you.
BMW, whether one’s musing about bikes or cars, has always had a reputation for quality. An example is BMW’s R1200R, “a “naked” (meaning without bodywork) cruiser with flair. It’s both quick and economical, surprising traits in a market segment known for flash, not dash. A week-long road test showed this $12,795 bike may be a partial answer to $4 per gallon gas.

The second model to be displayed by BMW Motorrad at EICMA Show is R1200 R, in both standard and Classic versions. Both combine a modern sporty and accentuated classical motorcycle design, once again with considerably greater quality and driving dynamics for even more riding fun.

The new R 1200 R is powered by a 1170 cc engine that delivers 110 HP at 7750 rpm and a peak torque of 119 NM at 6000 rpm. The new bike will be offered in three exterior colors: mat metallic smoky gray, metallic light gray, or metallic red apple.
